Feeding your baby is a journey from the day they are born. It can be incredibly challenging and rewarding with many highs and lows. I am here to support your breastfeeding and feeding goals and help you to come up with a plan unique to you and your baby. Together we will look at your history, current issues and any questions you have and create a realistic plan to meet your goals.
All initial lactation appointments take place in your own home, this allows us to work on latch and positions in the place you feel most comfortable. Follow up appointments can be done virtually. My area of service includes London, St.Thomas and parts of Middlesex (seen below), a travel fee may apply outside of this area.
Initial Lactation Appointment
This initial assessment is completed in the comfort of your own home and is approximately 90 minutes in length. It will include
A through history of you and your baby
Physical assessment of your baby and their oral motor skills
A visual assessment of your breast anatomy
Observation of a feed during the appointment
Setting feeding goals and ensuring they are realistic for you and your family
Creating attainable steps to reach your goals
A customized plan emailed to you after the appointment
Follow up for 1 week post-appointment via email

Modify next steps in custom plan

As a Registered Dietitian with additional training in lactation my services can be covered under your health benefits under Dietitian or Nutritionist. Direct billing is not currently available.
Please note: this session offers group-based lactation support. For more complex or individual feeding concerns, private in-home consultations are available—please contact to book.

Do you have a new baby and need feeding support? Is your baby older and you are facing new challenges? Join our community lactation drop-in at Round Maternity on Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Ask questions, get practical tips, shop nursing apparel, and connect with others in the thick of it with you.
This group is led by Andrea Martikainen, Registered Dietitian specializing in lactation. Drop-in fee: $20 (cash or EMT). You will receive a receipt suitable for submission to benefits that cover dietitian services.
